IV SOVIET–FINNISH ASTRONOMICAL MEETING

Conference on Various Problems of Galactic and Extragalactic Astronomy

 

June 9-14, 1981, Byurakan, Armenia

 

 

The regular IV Soviet-Finnish Astronomical Meeting was organized by the Astronomical Council of the USSR Academy of Sciences and the Byurakan Astrophysical Observatory of the Armenian Academy of Sciences.

 

The topics of the Meeting included various problems of Galactic and extragalactic astronomy.

 

11 Finnish and 30 Soviet astronomers took part in it. 17 were from the Byurakan Observatory. A.A. Boyarchuk, A.V. Tutukuv, E.V. Ergma, T.A. Kipper, N.M. Shakhovskoj, I. Tuominen, H. Virtanen, and other known astronomers were among them.

 

Organizing Committee: V.A. Ambartsumian (Chairman), L.V. Mirzoyan, M.A. Mnatsakanian, V.S. Oskanian, H.M. Tovmassian, E.Ye. Khachikian, and E.V. Ergma.

 

The opening of the meeting took place in the Presidium Hall of the Armenian Academy of Sciences in Yerevan. After the official opening three scientific reports were presented, including one by V.A. Ambartsumian. The scientific sessions of the meeting were held in the Conference Hall of the Byurakan Observatory.

 

30 talks were presented. At the last session of the meeting a protocol about the continuation of scientific cooperation between Soviet and Finnish astronomical institutions was signed.
